Cobot welding without robotics expertise

At the "European Robotics Forum" (ERF) at the end of March, the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, together with Trumpf and Lorch, won the "euRobotics Technology Transfer Award". The entry was a no-code solution that enables companies to use cobots for small batch sizes without specialist knowledge or high costs for welding.

For 5.375 billion US dollars

ABB Robotics goes to SoftBank

ABB has agreed to sell its Robotics division to the Japanese SoftBank Group for an enterprise value of 5.375 billion US dollars. Closing is expected mid to late 2026. The transaction is expected to deliver short-term value to shareholders, while ABB intends to deploy the proceeds in accordance with its capital guidelines.
