Ultimaker has developed a new 3D printing solution specifically for use in educational institutions. The Makerbot Sketch Sprint offers up to five times faster print speeds compared to standard desktop 3D printers, allowing teachers to better organize lessons. The fast turnaround from design to print allows students to complete more hands-on projects and unleash their creativity. "Investing in education means giving students the skills they need in a rapidly changing world of work," says Michiel Alting von Geusau, CEO of Ultimaker.

Seamless management, integrated security functions and optimized workflows

The Sketch Sprint is fully integrated into the Ultimaker Digital Factory, a turnkey platform for managing 3D printing processes. Teachers can manage multiple printers, prioritize print jobs and submit student work from any device. With the new Cura Cloud feature, the slicing process from Ultimaker Cura is transferred directly into the Digital Factory, ensuring a smooth workflow from CAD design to finished part. Optimized print settings and advanced features ensure high print quality and reliability.

Safety is a key factor in the development of Sketch Sprint. The printer is UL certified and meets strict standards for particulate and chemical emissions. With a fully enclosed design, a HEPA and carbon filter system and additional safety features such as a PIN-protected control, Sketch Sprint ensures a clean and safe learning environment. The use of PLA and Tough PLA filaments minimizes risks in the classroom.

In addition to Sketch Sprint, Ultimaker offers over 600 lesson plans, project ideas and training materials to support educators. These include ISTE-compliant programs, design thinking courses, webinars and training opportunities that effectively integrate 3D printing into the classroom.

"For over a decade, we have worked closely with educators to develop tools and resources that advance 3D printing in the classroom," said Andrea Zermeño, Manager of Marketing and Education at Ultimaker. "Our commitment has resulted in inspiring learning experiences that boost creativity, critical thinking and student confidence."
