Florian Ehgartner Appointed as Second Managing Director

Schmidbauer is restructuring its organization following the Sumida Group's acquisition. By appointing Florian Ehgartner as its second managing director, the manufacturer of custom inductive components is responding to the growth of recent years and its increasing international integration.

Effective July 1, 2026, Florian Ehgartner (49) was appointed as an additional managing director of the company specializing in custom inductive components. Together with the current managing director, Dominik Reichl, he will help shape the company’s next phase of growth.

Going forward, responsibilities will be clearly divided: While Ehgartner, as the managing director with sole authority to represent the company, will be responsible for operations, including materials management and IT, Reichl will focus on product development, sales, and the company’s strategic direction.

By expanding its executive management team, Schmidbauer is responding to the growth of recent years and to new challenges arising from additional business areas. Added to this are the responsibilities resulting from the Sumida Group’s investment in the company.

Ehgartner comes from that very same corporate group. Most recently, he served as Head of Business Unit there. His career began as a development engineer at Vogt and led him, through various management positions, to operational and strategic responsibilities in German-speaking countries. In addition to his new role, he will remain an authorized signatory at Sumida Components & Modules GmbH.

At Schmidbauer, Ehgartner’s primary task will be to drive forward the further integration of activities within the corporate group. The goal is to systematically leverage synergies and expand the joint portfolio—from inductive components to high-performance solutions—all from a single source.

“We are very pleased to have Florian join our team,” says Dominik Reichl. “With his experience and broad understanding of the industry, we will continue to strengthen our market position.”

Florian Ehgartner adds: “Schmidbauer’s growth over the past twenty years has been impressive. I look forward to actively shaping the company’s future together with Dominik and the team and driving further growth. I particularly appreciate a team that not only excels professionally but is also characterized by its strong sense of unity and positive corporate culture.”

Schmidbauer has been part of the Sumida Group since fall 2025. The strategic partnership is expected to benefit both sides: While Sumida expands its portfolio to include high-performance, custom inductors for high-power applications, Schmidbauer gains access to a global production network as well as international procurement and development resources.

According to the company, this means it is increasingly becoming a global partner for custom inductive components in the high-power range—particularly for larger production volumes and demanding industrial applications.
