Italian companies in particular are showing a growing interest in large 3D printed objects. With its LFAM (Large Format Additive Manufacturing) division, FIT is hitting exactly the right nerve. Two innovative processes in its repertoire, Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) for plastic and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) for metal, cover the demand for large components.

Large plastic objects that can be produced quickly are of interest in art and culture as well as in advertising. Tall, hollow and stable, plastic parts from the GDP process, for example, can be perfectly reworked for almost any look. Large plastic objects stand out due to their size alone and are an effective way of attracting attention. Users such as stage designers and prop makers, stand builders, store fitters, backdrop builders and event organizers take advantage of this.

The five-axis WAAM build-up welding process is recommended for technical metal components, as it can very quickly build up components in a wide variety of materials from welding wire. Application scenarios can be found in mechanical engineering or in industrial spare parts production.

"I see great potential in the collaboration with the FIT Additive Manufacturing Group," says Simone Casella, owner of the DSC International sales office. And Carl Fruth, founder and CEO of FIT, explains: "This makes us the ideal development partner for all customers who have a great idea but still need the expertise of an experienced manufacturing service provider to successfully implement their project. We can provide customers with expert support at every stage of the production process, from advice on suitable processes and materials to technical tricks and data preparation and the finishing options available depending on the process. Now also in Italy."
