SPS IPC Drives

Andrea Gillhuber,

IO-Link connection and converter

At this year's SPS IPC Drives in Hall 7A, Balluff will be exhibiting an IO-Link interface with IP 69 protection, among other things.

The module with two status LEDs offers an IO-Link connection via a standard sensor cable with M12 connector on one side and an open cable with ten cores on the other side, which can be used to connect electrical units with up to eight inputs/outputs to control systems. These include control panels, pumps, valve terminals and much more.

Balluff is launching the IO-Link converter to connect RS232 devices with IO-Link. It can be used to connect barcode scanners, printers or RS232 controllers to an IO-Link connection, for example. According to the company, this eliminates the need for special additional components such as RS232 cards for integration into the respective controller.
