Export stop for forklifts to Russia and Belarus

As our colleagues at materialfluss have learned, the Hamburg-based material handling equipment manufacturer and intralogistics specialist Jungheinrich decided on March 3 to stop exporting new and used machines to Russia and Belarus.

A few days earlier, the Management Board of the stock corporation had addressed the workforce with urgent words and decided, among other things, to make an immediate donation of 100,000 euros for Ukrainian refugees. The text is dated March 1 and reads, among other things:

Our greatest concern these days is for the people in Ukraine, especially our Jungheinrich colleagues and their families. We fear for their safety and hope that they will come through this terrible time unharmed. Wherever we can, we have taken measures to support our employees and their families in Ukraine.

The Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG also announces financial aid and a donation:

The financial security of our Ukrainian workforce has been taken care of. Our teams in neighboring countries have initiated aid measures for the refugees. A great commitment that we fully support. In this context, the Management Board has decided to make a donation of EUR 100,000 at short notice as emergency aid in order to quickly provide initial support to the people who have fled Ukraine.

The letter ends with a remarkable conclusion:

Peace is the basic prerequisite for the security of us all and, not least, for our freedom and prosperity. We are saddened these days by the many victims of Russia's attack on Ukraine in violation of international law. We admire the courage with which the Ukrainians are fighting for their freedom. And we hope that those responsible for this war will come to their senses as quickly as possible and that peace can return to Europe.
