Ultra-compact wheel hub gearbox

Framo Morat presents a new wheel hub gearbox series that has been explicitly developed for use in automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

These vehicles, often referred to as AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), are particularly productive and economical when they can cover long distances and travel times without having to repeatedly recharge the energy storage units they carry. Especially in the increasingly smaller vehicles for distribution systems in warehouses, the components used must therefore be compact but powerful at the same time.

The wheel hub gearbox from Framo Morat, with a total gearbox length of 64 millimetres, meets these requirements by integrating the planetary stage into the wheel. The vehicles can therefore be equipped with comparatively larger batteries due to the reduced installation space of the drive, which in turn results in longer running times. Secondly, the gearbox was designed for high radial loads of up to 500 kilograms per wheel thanks to the direct force transmission into the vehicle frame and the robust wheel bearings. The small powerhouse also impresses with low noise emissions and a long service life, which is achieved through the design separation of the gearbox and wheel.

The wheel hub gearboxes including polyurethane impeller are available as standard in the NG250 and NG500 variants, each in single and two-stage versions with ratios from 4 to 32. Short delivery times are achieved thanks to the gearbox platform. Customer-specific adaptations with regard to sizes, radial loads, transmission ratios or impeller materials, profiles or sizes can be implemented quickly and flexibly based on the modular principle. The gearboxes can be adapted to a wide range of motors by customizing the stub shaft and the motor pitch circle.
