3D scanner
Convenient measurements even in harsh environments
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence introduces a new handheld 3D scanning technology that adds convenient new functionality for flexible measurement to its wide range of manufacturing inspection equipment.
The company's new 3D scanners can be held comfortably in one hand, enabling engineers and production workers to scan objects in a variety of environments inside and outside the factory floor. Two new handheld devices, the Atlasscan Max and the Marvelscan, are ideal for measuring parts in a variety of inspection environments where metrology is not traditionally used: for example, in the automotive industry, rail transportation, industrial plants and general manufacturing.
The new 3D scanners are portable and ideal for automated applications in intralogistics. Regardless of the inspection environment, productivity is key. Users of Atlasscan Max and Marvelscan can optimize their workflows with ergonomic, thumb-operated controls and perform 3D scanning processes even in confined spaces, harsh environments or outdoors. As no access to a control PC is required during measurement, this multi-mode scanning enables efficient measurement of different feature types and surfaces. For example, users can scan open surfaces in standard mode and then quickly switch to fine mode using the device's controls to achieve higher resolution on intricate features.
The decisive factor is the automatic data acquisition in various modes, which are combined into a single, editable point cloud. With the new devices, parts no longer need to be clamped prior to measurement, saving considerable time and allowing greater measurement flexibility. The scanners and parts can be moved freely during measurement, reducing the time required to capture complete part data.
