motion plastics in forklift trucks
Avoid downtime with high-performance polymers
In order to avoid machine downtimes, it is important to use robust and durable machine elements. This is where the lubrication- and maintenance-free high-performance plastics from Igus come into their own. Using the example of industrial trucks, the company shows where motion plastics can be used.
Defects, repairs or maintenance-related downtimes on industrial trucks cause unnecessary costs, as machines cannot be used during this time. Robust and reliable components are therefore required to prevent such failures. This is where motion plastics from Igus come into play, as they are specially developed for dynamic applications and have a long service life that can be calculated online.
These include the flexible Chainflex cables, which are installed in seats or in the mast, among other things. The cables are UV and oil-resistant, flame-retardant and extensively tested in the company's own test laboratory. With a 36-month guarantee and the smallest bending radii, they are ideal for applications with permanent stress.
In industrial trucks, cables must be routed safely in confined spaces. E-Chains have been specially developed for this task, as they not only have a high torsional resistance and a cable-friendly interior, but also allow small bending radii and internal heights. Their design makes them modular, quick to assemble and very light. The rounded shapes inside the energy chains make them particularly gentle on the cables. In industrial trucks, for example, e-chains are used for seat adjustment or in the mast of narrow-aisle forklift trucks, where they protect cables from external influences.
Flexibly adjustable cockpit
Not only energy chains but also linear guides are used for seat adjustment, as the cockpit of an industrial truck must be individually adaptable to the ergonomic needs of the operator at various points. This applies in particular to the headrest, armrests, control elements and doors. Drylin linear guides enable easy and quiet adjustability on straight and curved rails with predefined locking points. Drylin linear technology is particularly light, as the carriages slide on Iglidur high performance polymers. As a result, these linear guides require no additional lubricants and are very low-maintenance, shock-resistant and durable.
The bearing points of industrial trucks also place special demands, such as high loads, on the bearings used. This is where the maintenance-free Iglidur plain bearings come into their own. The customer can choose from a wide range of plain bearings from more than 50 tribo-plastics with special properties. Some materials are characterized by a high load capacity of up to 250 MPa and are therefore installed in bearing points for high-load swivels. Others have particularly low coefficients of friction and are therefore used for steering column bearings or pedals. All Iglidur plain bearings have a long service life, are lubricant-free, cost-effective, lightweight and vibration-damping. as
