Machining centers

Maximum precision in two variants

At AMB 2022, Kern will be presenting two machines that are characterized by high precision on the workpiece, but are based on two different technologies - the latest generation of the Kern Micro HD five-axis machining center and the Kern Femto E3 laser machining center.

On the Micro HD, Kern machines mold inserts for filter housings, for example, which are milled and ground in a single clamping operation. The components are first machined and then brought to the highest surface quality at individual points using coordinate grinding with five-axis cycles. In the end, the components achieve a precision of less than 1 µm and surface qualities in the single-digit nanometer range on various contact surfaces. The usual manual polishing is no longer necessary.

The Femto E3 laser processing center is the ideal manufacturing solution for carbide dies and similar components. The machine uses ultra-short pulse lasers to process hard materials with a dimensional accuracy of ±3 µm and without heat input. The Femto E3 can also texture surfaces quickly and easily on various materials.
