Long tool life for 3D finishing of hard alloys
Components made of titanium and chrome-cobalt alloys are difficult to machine. Grinding takes a long time and tools wear out very quickly when milling.
Free-form surfaces can be machined better with the spherical Actionmill Inox-Ball finishing cutters from HB Microtec. These have four coated cutting edges, one of which cuts across the center. The cutting edges are rounded to an accuracy of 4 µm. This ensures significantly longer tool life and tool life when milling hard materials.
The thin, hard and highly heat-resistant coatings are also very smooth. They therefore prevent sticking, especially with titanium chips, and deflect the chips away from the cutting edge engagement area. This prevents the cutting edges from breaking off and wearing prematurely due to sticking chips. You can finish-mill hard alloys for a long time without wear at an infeed depth of 0.1 to 0.3 mm and a cutting speed of up to 5 m/min.
