Green steel control cabinet
From scrap metal and with wind energy
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is expanding its range of sustainable electrical engineering products through its subsidiary Alpha Verteilertechnik.
In addition to conventional control cabinets, customers now also have access to Sivacon 8MF1 industrial control cabinets, which are made from 100 percent scrap from renowned European suppliers using wind power. This step supports Siemens' sustainability goals in the areas of decarbonization and resource efficiency, which are defined in the Degree framework. Siemens is pursuing the science-based 1.5-degree decarbonization target. During the manufacturing process,CO2 emissions are 70 percent lower than with conventional steel, which is usually produced in a blast furnace using iron ore and coal. The new variant has the same technical properties and functionalities as cabinets made from conventional steel.
