AMB 2022
Comeback for the metalworking trade fair
In the exhibition halls at Stuttgart Airport from September 13 to 17, the AMB metalworking trade fair proved that large industrial trade fairs will continue to attract visitors in autumn 2022. 64,298 came over the five days of the event. This is still significantly fewer than the 9,016 visitors who came in the record year of 2018, but a very respectable result in view of coronavirus and the looming economic crisis.
The absolute number of exhibitors is also lower than in 2018: 1238 instead of 1553. In addition, some long-standing exhibitors stayed at home this year. On the other hand, there were numerous first-time exhibitors and the stand areas were fully booked, including the foyers and parts of the congress center.
Strong regional roots
Trade visitors came to Stuttgart from all over Europe. Around 18 percent came from abroad, slightly more than at AMB four years ago (17 percent). In total, visitors from 71 countries were registered. The most strongly represented countries after Germany were Switzerland, Austria, Scandinavia, Italy, France and the Netherlands.
65% of German visitors come mainly from Baden-Württemberg, with a further 18% from Bavaria. The largest proportion is active in mechanical engineering (37 percent), but the metalworking and processing industry (23 percent), the automotive industry and vehicle construction (18 percent), metal construction companies (13 percent) and tool and mold making (11 percent) were also represented at AMB.
Organizer satisfied
Gunnar Mey, Director Trade Fairs & Events at Messe Stuttgart, is delighted with how AMB has gone: "After the break in 2020, AMB 2022 has taken off at the right time, at the right location and with the right concept. The industry's loyalty to its leading trade fair is impressive. We would like to thank exhibitors, visitors and our partners in the associations and media."
