Energy guiding chains
For a clean and modern working environment
Energy supply chains used in offices or other working environments are often subject to very individual requirements. Tsubaki Kabelschlepp therefore has a wide range of standard solutions in its product range and also develops customer-specific concepts.
Thanks to the many years of cross-industry experience gained from hundreds of successfully implemented projects, new, application-specific cable carrier systems are constantly emerging - for example, a customized solution for a new media board.
From open-plan offices and ergonomic sit-stand workstations to control stations in control rooms, the list of office applications in which cable drag chains from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp are used is long and varied. Although the focus is on workstations with modern equipment, the transition to the furniture industry is seamless. Because the requirements are similar, identical energy chains are also often used in kitchen furniture, for example. The systems have to be lightweight, easy to handle and, last but not least, attractive to look at, as they are often visible in this area of application and therefore have to fit in with the design concepts.
Individually designed for special requirements
This is another reason why cable carrier systems for working environments cannot come "off the shelf" in some cases. This is why Tsubaki Kabelschlepp offers customized complete solutions in which the experts support customers from the initial idea to the planning and implementation of the installation in their project. The cable routing is developed, tested and produced according to the customer's specifications.
From connection options to strain relief and packaging, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp develops solutions that can be defined under a material number and thus planned with little effort. Through pre-assembly and order picking, customers save costs and also reduce the storage space required.
Cable drag chains in height-adjustable touchscreens
The company's individually designed cable carriers are used in the height-adjustable touchscreens for school lessons, which the Dutch company Prowise develops and produces. Digital whiteboards are conquering more and more classrooms and lecture halls. Thanks to the matching lift systems, the touchscreens are height-adjustable. However, the power supply to the touchscreens and lift systems is safely protected from children's hands. This is ensured by special energy supply systems, which are installed in all new Prowise lift systems. The biggest challenge in this application was the risk of tripping due to cables hanging down. To reduce this, Prowise laid all connections in the floor slab. This in turn meant that the required cables had to be routed upwards - and as invisibly as possible.
Due to the particular dimensions and special requirements, it quickly became clear that only a special solution was an option for Prowise. The idea was to combine two standard chains from the Tsubaki Kabelschlepp range - specifically the Mono and TKA series - and supplement them with slats from the EasyTrax series. The Mono series is a compact plastic cable carrier with a long service life, while the TKA cable carrier guarantees particularly good cable protection thanks to its closed design. As desired, the chain is closed on one side so that the cables are not visible and cannot be damaged. The robust design ensures a service life that corresponds to the usual service life - in tests, the cables were not impaired even after 10,000 test cycles.
Cable management in an elegant outfit
However, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp also has standard cable carriers in its range that are suitable for use in the modern working world: These include the aforementioned Mono series with cost-effective, compact and durable cable carriers. The Protum Office modular system, on the other hand, is specially designed for office applications. It can be used to create systems that provide sufficient space for telecommunication, power and data cables. The cables can be easily bundled directly at the desk using the cable management system and routed from there to the floor or ceiling. Because every workstation looks different, the modular system enables flexible cable routing with many new possibilities. For example, vertical cable ducts on desk frames can be eliminated by using a Protum Office with magnetic holders. The modular system allows 12 color combinations with the standard colors. The cable carriers are supplied as pre-assembled sets including fixing materials as standard. Alternatively, users can put together their own sets from the individual components as tailor-made solutions, which are also supplied ready for installation.
Space for up to 16 cables
PROTUM Office can also be used for applications with many cables: The P0400GS model is available in a two-chamber version. While the flat single-chamber version is ideal for height-adjustable desks, the two-chamber version can accommodate twice as many cables - 16 in total. It is designed for non-height-adjustable tables, whereby the double cross-section allows data and power cables to be separated from each other by the chain band.
Another highlight of the P0400GS is the special chain strap, which can be easily hooked into the predefined contour - for example into a sheet metal cut-out in the cable tray. This maximizes the size of the cut-out that remains for the cables to pass through and allows cables to be laid and routed conveniently. Tsubaki Kabelschlepp can provide the CAD data free of charge on request. Even a large number of data and power cables can be neatly and attractively integrated into office furniture. The design of the chain is also characterized by a wide design and high-quality surface - this enables improved visual coverage of the cables.
Take off quickly with the help of quick openers
However, the QuickTrax and EasyTrax series of cable drag chains are also suitable for use in modern working environments. They are among Tsubaki Kabelschlepp's "quick openers" - this means that they enable extremely fast cable routing. Cables, hoses etc. are simply pressed into the flexible lamella brackets.
This means that up to one meter of cable carrier can be filled in less than a second - saving installation costs. The quick openers are used at Nuremberg Airport, among other places: computers and printers are housed in mobile trolleys at the check-in terminals. As a result, cables and plugs run the risk of being damaged or accidentally pulled out. With the help of EasyTrax, the airport's technicians have eliminated this source of error and optimized the availability of computers at check-in.
The cable drag chains are used at all 30 check-in counters at Nuremberg Airport. They guide the cables to the computers and printers, which are each housed in a trolley located in the footwell. When not in use, this trolley stands under the table of the check-in counter and is pulled out as required on rollers running in a rail on the floor. The EasyTrax energy chain with an internal width of 38 millimeters guides the cables safely and without making contact with the floor. Cable tangles and plugs coming loose when the trolley is moved are eliminated.
