Efaflex celebrates 50 years of high-speed doors
The emphasis is on "fast"
Since day one, Efaflex has wanted to use new technologies as early as possible and drive progress in the industry. This year, the family business is celebrating its 50th anniversary under the motto "Fast Forward".
Efaflex, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has been the global market leader in the industrial door market for 20 years. Despite business activities on five continents, representatives in 80 countries and eleven subsidiaries, the company with headquarters in Bruckberg near Munich is still family-owned. The company owes this success to its future-oriented way of thinking and acting, in addition to its claim to completely satisfy customers and supply only the highest quality products. This year's anniversary is therefore an invitation to look ahead. "Fast Forward", the guiding principle, reflects the DNA of a company with vision.
The goal is the future
For example, when it was founded, Efaflex was the first company in the world to focus exclusively on high-speed doors - and the company that coined both the term "high-speed door" and its continuous further development. When Manfred Seysen, Gabrijel Rejc and Gustav Meyer founded Efaflex Tor- und Sicherheitssysteme GmbH & Co. KG in 1974, they probably could not have foreseen that their company would one day become the number one in the industry.
Five decades later, this attitude has given Efaflex a technological edge and made it a driving force in the industry. With the Internet of Things solution EFA Smartconnect, for example, the company is responding to the needs of networked Industry 4.0; digital building data modeling via the BIMobject platform allows doors to be adapted even more precisely to real requirements. Digitalization is set to open up new opportunities in the future, particularly in the areas of sales and service.
Efaflex continues to set new standards in terms of quality, safety and speed. Thanks to its own research and development department and innovative engineering skills, the company can boast a number of milestones: the patented universal joint technology, the first spiral door, the world's first door line light grid or the first laser scanner developed for use on door systems are just a few examples from the company's 50-year history.
Efaflex holds a world record
There is also a world record: with speeds of up to four meters per second, the EFA-STR can call itself the fastest vertically opening door in the world. Although this makes the door the front runner, it is anything but an exception in the company's portfolio. All Efaflex doors are high-speed doors with door leaf speeds of at least one meter per second - regardless of whether they are spiral doors, roller doors or folding doors.
The customer base has steadily expanded and become more diverse. Today, the premium solutions and tailor-made special doors are used in a wide variety of sectors - in the beverage, food and pharmaceutical industries, by car manufacturers and suppliers or at airports, in parking garages and in logistics. Global players rely on the efficiency, durability and reliability of the doors, as do small and medium-sized companies and public institutions.
Focus on flawless function
Internal quality management plus quality control doubly ensure that every door works perfectly. In addition, high-quality maintenance, repair and servicing services ensure the long-term availability of the door systems. The company's own service fleet and detailed digital documentation of all doors and their data make it possible to intervene quickly in the event of faults or difficulties. Efaflex also takes on the maintenance and repair of doors from other manufacturers, subject to corresponding agreements. After all, the needs of customers and partners are at the heart of all company decisions.
The company now employs more than 1,400 people worldwide and attaches great importance to training, further education and good working conditions. The company also emphasizes its responsibility when it comes to sustainability awareness and has made the entire value chain sustainable in both ecological and social terms. The products themselves also help to conserve resources thanks to insulation, short opening and closing times, low wear and tear and recyclable materials.
