Single-level shuttle
Finds the right place in the system
SSI Schaefer is expanding its shuttle portfolio for small load carriers with the Flexi Shuttle. Powered by supercapacitors, the single-level shuttle enables the handling of various stored goods with a payload of up to 50 kilograms.
The single-level shuttle is predestined for use in automated small parts warehouses (AKL) with a high variance of stored goods and is characterized by a high degree of flexibility over the entire product life cycle. With the Flexi Shuttle, the intralogistics expert offers a modular concept comprising a shuttle, lifter and racking system. It enables individually tailored system concepts with excellent space utilization. The system allows single-, double- and multi-deep storage with variable height and width distribution up to an aisle length of 150 meters and a height of up to 30 meters.
Universal LAM with width adjustment
SSI Schaefer also draws attention to the wide range of transport units and dimensions that can be stored in a space-optimized manner. A universal LAM with width shift ensures the handling of a variety of stored goods dimensions of up to 860 x 680 millimetres. Cubic and conical containers as well as cartons, trays and mixed containers with a payload of up to 50 kilograms can be stored in one racking system. In addition to front-mounted high-performance lifters, integrated lifters can also be used in accordance with the patented 3D Matrix Solution concept, the positioning of which can be freely selected in the storage aisle. This makes it possible to implement highly dynamic solutions with automated storage, buffering and sequencing in just one system.
"In combination with this and in comparison to conventional concepts, the Flexi Shuttle dispenses with permanently assigned x-storage positions in the racking system," says Peter Berlik, Technical Managing Director at SSI Schaefer. "Instead, we rely on an open and millimetre-precise positioning and optimized shelf allocation concept that is independent of the installed hardware. Coupled with intelligent IT strategies, the shelving concept enables size-dependent, fully automated, space-optimized storage." Even with a high heterogeneity of transport units and a wide range of transport dimensions, space-optimized shelf allocation can be achieved with maximum storage density. Additional units and dimensions can be flexibly integrated or eliminated during ongoing system operation.
The Flexi Shuttle offers travel speeds of up to four meters per second and is also designed for use in deep-freeze conditions. The system ensures efficiency across all sectors, particularly when there is a large variety of items, high throughput requirements, short delivery times and small delivery quantities and units. It is therefore also ideal for use in e-commerce.
Energy efficiency and cost optimization
According to the company, the integration of supercapacitors as an energy source should ensure maximum power density with maximum throughput. They also serve as intermediate storage, as energy is fed back during braking processes. By using this technology, components subject to wear and tear in conventional energy supply concepts have been consistently eliminated. This increases the service life of the system and reduces the TCO at the same time. In addition, the integrated energy storage of the shuttles ensures user-friendly handling and maintenance-friendly access during aisle access. as
