Furniture damper
Zimmer develops new smooth damper variant
Zimmer Daempfungssysteme, a subsidiary of the Zimmer Group, has developed a new smooth damper variant that has been specially designed for sliding doors, cabinets, drawers and flaps.
The new damping technology is integrated into the furniture fitting. The developers have succeeded in reducing the opening force that a user has to exert to open (and close) a sliding door to such an extent that it no longer feels like it exists, says Zimmer. This allows the sliding door to be operated easily despite its heavy weight.
In terms of accessibility and user-friendliness, this opens up new horizons for the new Smooth furniture damper. In addition to children, the focus is particularly on older people and people with restricted mobility or disabilities, who can now open and close doors easily and comfortably without any effort.
Another highlight of the new Smooth version is its particularly gentle and whisper-quiet damping. Due to the purely mechanical properties, only a quiet, barely perceptible noise should be heard.
A side effect of this new type of intelligent damping is the reduction in product diversity and variance for the customer, as only a single damper variant is required for different weight classes.
The new Smooth damper can be installed in all Zimmer Daempfungssysteme self-closing units already in stock and can also be used as an individual component in the respective customer's hardware. The new Smooth version has been in series production since February 2020 and is available with a damper suitable for all door weights from 15 to 160 kilograms. as
