Lapp expands its range for the railroad industry

With new cables and system products, Lapp is expanding its range for the railroad industry and shortening delivery times to less than a week.

Where competitors only produce cables after an order has been received and demand high minimum order quantities, Lapp delivers from stock without minimum order quantities and even in small packages. This drastically reduces delivery times from up to three months to less than a week and helps users to reduce their stock levels and react more quickly to new requirements - worldwide. Most of the new cables are also available from stock with immediate effect. New in the program:

Ölflex Classic 110H SF: The control cable is the workhorse of the range. It is available in countless variants for use in factories and now also in trains, for example to supply doors, air conditioning systems or lighting. The new variant is flexible thanks to class 6 conductors, meaning it can also be installed in tight spaces. Other variants are the shielded Ölflex Classic 115 CH SF and Ölflex Classic 115 CH SF (TP). Thanks to its twisted pair construction, the latter is suitable for transmitting data to the driver's desk or for entertainment systems, for example.

Ölflex Train HT150: The single-core silicone cable is designed for applications where it gets particularly hot, such as on motors or power converters - it can withstand temperatures of up to 150 degrees Celsius. The cable complies with Hazard Level 3, the highest hazard class in the event of fire. It is also certified in accordance with EN 50382-2 for the construction of silicone cables. It is available in cross-sections from 1.5 to 400 square millimetres with 1.8 kilovolts or 3.6 kilovolts, as well as double-layered with silicone insulation and sheathed or single-layered with class 6 conductors and therefore flexible, which facilitates installation in places with tight bending radii.

Ölflex Train 340 and Ölflex Train 345C: The range of these connection and control cables for increased requirements in the railroad sector in accordance with EN 50264-3-2 has been expanded. They are now available with cross-sections from 0.5 to 50 square millimetres and core counts from two to 40. The cable can be used universally, even outdoors, as its black sheath makes it resistant to UV light. Naturally, these cables are also classified in accordance with EN45545-2 and are highly resistant to temperature, oil and fuel.

Connection technology and data transmission
However, Lapp not only offers cables for power transmission for the railroad industry, but also the complete range of connection technology including systems for data transmission and is also constantly expanding its range of connectors and system products such as cable glands and cable entries, cable protection systems as well as marking solutions and tools.

Also new to the range and approved in accordance with DIN EN 45545-2 is, for example, the Skintop ST-HF-M in black with increased UV resistance for outdoor use. In addition to the proven high functional reliability thanks to vibration protection, optimum strain relief and oil resistance, the plastic cable glands in the Skintop ST-HF-M series also offer approval in accordance with EN 45545-2 (Hazard Level 3) for use in the railroad industry. In addition, all materials - including the seals - are halogen-free. In addition to the light gray version for indoor applications, there is now also a black version with better UV resistance for outdoor use.

Numerous Epic rectangular connectors are also suitable and approved for the special requirements of the railroad industry. The Epic MH modular connector system, for example, also complies with EN 45545-2, is extremely robust and extremely quick to assemble: thanks to the fixed frame, one module after the other can simply be snapped into place. Epic MH can also be plugged in with the market standard. Lapp uses crimp contacts for connecting cables. These are particularly vibration-proof and therefore offer a fundamental advantage over screw contacts for the railroad industry. Another special feature is the Gigabit module for connecting Etherline Cat. 7 cables for the highest data transmission rates in modern trains. as
