Cable gland
Divisible, but tight
Divisible cable gland. Icotek is introducing another size in the new KVT-ER series. The cable gland is now also available in the metric standard size M25. It is used to insert cables with and without plugs.
Whether in machine, plant or vehicle construction, the demands are constantly increasing and require an ever higher degree of reliability and protection against external influences. At the beginning of the new product development, the aim was to develop a robust and at the same time separable cable gland. The decisive factor was a separable component that could also reliably withstand heavy external influences. It had to be quick and easy to use and offer the user as much flexibility as possible. In addition to these product-specific requirements, the aim was also to create a visually appealing and functional product design.
The new KVT-ER (Cable Gland Divisible, Extremely Robust) was developed from these specifications. The KVT-ER fulfills the IP protection classes IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68 and is certified in accordance with DIN EN 60529:2014. The high protection classes are achieved through both a high pressing pressure and an integrated seal. An elastomer seal is incorporated internally in the area of the end cover, as on the back of the cable gland. No additional external flat gasket is required. This design principle is already familiar from other ER models from Icotek and has been tried and tested in practice.
The pressing pressure is created when the end cover is screwed to the lower part. Screwing is carried out as standard using the black V2A screws supplied, which are screwed through the injected threaded bushes.
The integrated strain relief complies with DIN EN 62444 and automatically relieves the strain on the cables used. The KVT-ER series already meets all the requirements of EN 45545-2 HL 3 in the field of rail transportation technology and is therefore suitable for use in the railroad sector. The cable gland is based on standardized metric knockouts in sizes M25, M32, M50 and M63. The rear screw connection is made using the locknut supplied. Icotek offers special KGM locknuts with cut-outs for the insertion of SUB-D connectors.
The KT slotted cable grommets are used for flexible cable entry. Due to the slotting of the KT grommets, cables with a diameter of between one and 35 millimetres can be fed through. For cable grommets not fitted with cables, ST plugs are available from the company to ensure secure and clean sealing. Due to their resistance to industrial cleaning agents (ECOLAB certified), they can also be used in areas such as food & beverage or healthcare. as
