DMC reader reads complete kits

Bi-Ber has automated the reading of data matrix codes in material provision for a customer.

The newly designed code reader finds and decodes dozens of DMCs in a single pass. Teaching in a new number and arrangement of precision metal parts is also done autonomously. Boxes with up to 130 workpieces with imprinted DMCs are inserted. The camera head is then moved over the entire surface with three linear axes at a safe distance in order to first determine the positions of the codes. The recording parameters are then run through for each individual code until a successful reading result is obtained. The system varies the camera height, exposure time and type of lighting. There are four bar lights and two ring lights on the camera head, which can be combined as required. The system saves the coordinates and lighting settings for each DMC position. This teach-in process is completed within a few hours. It only takes place once for each type of crate, as the workpieces are always in the same positions. as
