Grinding deep holes

Machine reaches a depth of 1,300 millimeters

At GrindTec 2018, Wema presented the further developed Wotan S6 I internal cylindrical grinding machine. It enables the grinding of bores up to a depth of 1300 millimetres. The improved concept represents a technological leap forward for the manufacturer, as the possible grinding depth of the previous machines was around 1200 millimetres.

The machine prepared for GrindTec will be shown in an L-version with longitudinal adjustment. The Wotan S6 I can machine workpieces up to a length of 1800 millimeters. If necessary, a steady rest helps to support the parts. The largest component diameter that can be gripped is 800 millimetres and the maximum component weight is 1200 kilograms. High-precision guide systems and other in-house components adapted to the market guarantee maximum machining precision. As with all of the manufacturer's other grinding machines, users can choose from a wide range of equipment features, such as a hydrostatic workpiece spindle, integrated automatic measuring systems, a tool changing system and combinations with external and face machining. sw
