Plagiarius 2019: brazen counterfeits wanted

For the 43rd time, Aktion Plagiarius is organizing the Plagiarius competition. Affected companies, designers and inventors once again have the opportunity to submit their original products and alleged imitations and to nominate the plagiarist - whether manufacturer or retailer - as the winner.

Since 1977, the negative "Plagiarius" award has been raising public awareness of the unscrupulous business practices of counterfeiters - who clumsily copy the design or technical solutions of successful products 1:1. The trophy is a black dwarf with a golden nose - as a symbol of the immense profits that product pirates literally make at the expense of creatives and the industry.

Before the annually changing jury selects the winners from all the entries, the alleged plagiarists are notified of their nomination in writing and given the opportunity to respond. The fear of public embarrassment has led many a plagiarist to seek an agreement with the original manufacturer and, for example, to remove remaining stock from the market, sign a cease-and-desist declaration or reveal suppliers.

As every year, the award ceremony takes place as part of a press conference at the "Ambiente" trade fair in Frankfurt. All submitted originals and plagiarisms are exhibited during Ambiente. The award-winning products are then presented to the public at Plagiarius exhibitions.

Entries are being accepted now, the closing date is November 30. The registration form and the conditions of participation can be downloaded from http://www.plagiarius.com under the competition heading. as
