Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at BASF
Markus Kamieth succeeds Martin Brudermüller
Dr. Markus Kamieth will become Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF at the end of the Annual Meeting on April 25, 2024. This was decided by the Supervisory Board at its meeting on 20 December 2023. Markus Kamieth has been a member of BASF's Board of Executive Directors since 2017 and succeeds Dr. Martin Brudermüller.

Markus Kamieth is an extremely competent and experienced successor who has achieved outstanding results for BASF during his diverse career in Germany, the USA and Asia. He combines strategic vision with operational implementation strength and will give new impetus to BASF's businesses and teams."
The Supervisory Board has appointed Anup Kothari, currently Head of the Nutrition & Health division, as a member of the Executive Board as of March 1, 2024. Anup Kothari began his career at BASF in North America and has held positions in various divisions in the USA, Germany and China.
The Supervisory Board has also appointed Dr. Katja Scharpwinkel as a member of the Executive Board and Labour Director as of 1 February 2024. She is currently Head of the Europe, Middle East, Africa region. She joined BASF in 2010 with the acquisition of the former Cognis. Katja Scharpwinkel succeeds Dr. Melanie Maas-Brunner, who has informed the Supervisory Board that she will not be renewing her contract, which runs until January 31, 2024.
The Supervisory Board has extended the contract of Michael Heinz, member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, until the Annual General Meeting 2026. Michael Heinz has been a member of the Board of Executive Directors since 2011. He is responsible for the Agricultural Solutions, Nutrition & Health and Care Chemicals divisions as well as the North America and South America regions.
