Baumüller at the SPS
More productivity with Drive Intelligence
Nuremberg-based automation specialist Baumüller will be showcasing many innovations at the SPS, including a new runtime system for PLCs, the b maXX 6000 servo inverter family including the drive-integrated high-performance b maXX PLC di controller and the new DSC2 motor generation. The b maXX PLC di (drive-integrated) controller takes over scalable control tasks up to high-performance synchronous multi-axis applications in the servo drives of the new b maXX 6000 family. This relieves and reduces or replaces the central PLC, as the PLC di can also be used as an EtherCAT master to control additional servo inverters.
With a minimum fieldbus cycle time of up to 250 microseconds, the integrated controller is one of the fastest drive-integrated PLCs on the market. The b maXX PLC di responds to important events, such as measuring probes, in real time via digital inputs. The excellent connectivity makes it possible to create flexible and modular structures via interfaces such as OPC UA, MQTT, EtherCAT and Ethernet. This means that the b maXX PLC di is optimally prepared for future requirements in the automation and IoT environment.
New Smart Vibration Monitoring software
Condition monitoring solutions ensure regular condition monitoring in many machines. This allows wear on motors, for example, to be detected in good time and potential machine downtime to be avoided. However, if this function is performed via a sensor, it can be complex and costly, depending on the type of machine and number of motors used, for example in a textile machine. With the new Smart Vibration Monitoring software solution, machine manufacturers can offer their customers condition monitoring without an external sensor.
The software is integrated directly into the servo controller via the Softdrive PLC and can therefore be easily retrofitted. This opens up new possibilities for machine manufacturers: for example, runtime models can be offered for additional machine functions. The new function uses recorded and analyzed process parameters as reference values to monitor the mechanics, for example the electric motor, fan or hydraulic pump. The software detects vibrations caused by imbalance or incorrect alignment in good time and issues an error signal. This enables planned maintenance to be carried out on the motor, preventing further damage or machine failure.
