Stainless steel set screws
Recurring infeed and positioning processes
With production machines or devices, the challenge is often to be able to carry out recurring adjustment and positioning processes as easily and reliably as possible. Ganter now offers three new, complementary products with its stainless steel adjusting screws including adjustment scale, the corresponding bearing blocks and matching knurled nuts for simple and safe adjustment and the quick change of devices or tools.
The newly designed stainless steel adjusting screw GN 827 from standard parts specialist Ganter is used in conjunction with bearing blocks GN 828 and facilitates assembly on various machining and assembly devices in machine, plant and fixture construction. In particular, this speeds up work processes in which fixtures have to be repeatedly changed, positioned and adjusted. The fixtures are moved in or out by means of an adjusting screw with a rotary knob and hexagon socket, which is equipped with a 0.1 mm scale.
Depending on the application, the stainless steel set screws are available in various thread diameters and lengths and can be optimally fastened to the production machine in combination with the GN 828 bearing blocks from Ganter. Once the optimum setting has been found, the set screw can be locked with a stainless steel knurled nut GN 827.1 that is precisely matched to this task. The bearing blocks are made of matt, slide-ground aluminum and differ in the form of the screw fastening, which can be done from above or from the front.
On the other hand, they offer either a nut thread that matches the adjusting screw or a locating groove that supports the adjusting screw axially. In addition to the scale on the rotary knob, the locating groove has a laser-engraved reference line for adjusting the fixture. The locating groove in particular enables simple changing of fixtures or tools using the "Single Minute Exchange of Die" (SMED) method. This allows production to continue directly with the preset dimensions without machine downtime and minimizes set-up times and costs.
