Capture drawing information with AI

At the Hannover Messe, Simus Systems is presenting the new version of Simus Classmate, a comprehensive digitization solution for manufacturers and suppliers in mechanical and plant engineering. It integrates drawing information with 3D models using artificial intelligence and transports it to all connected CAD, ERP and PDM systems.

The benefits can be seen in many areas of the company. 3D CAD models often do not contain all the information on material, tolerances, accuracy of fit, surface quality, thread specifications and other annotations that are required to manufacture a component. This is because this product manufacturing information (PMI) is not always maintained and is not contained in all data formats.

Many manufacturers therefore use production drawings as a key source of information for subsequent procurement, production and quality assurance processes. With the new version 11.8 of Simus Classmate, companies can now analyze CAD drawing files, assign them to a CAD model in S3D format and add missing information. The AI recognizes the annotations, dimensions and data and assigns them fully automatically to the respective geometry elements in the 3D model. This improves the end-to-end digital database for manufacturers.

AI integration increases the performance of the software in many areas. Designers can find similar parts faster and more accurately and benefit from greater efficiency, more intelligent digital twins and increased reuse. Paperless manufacturing initiatives are facilitated. Orders for mechanical manufacturing services and post-processing become simpler and more secure. Quality assurance is supported with intelligent 3D models. The software's calculation tools work better because they take more relevant information into account in a targeted manner.
