The focus is on the opportunities offered by digitalization in mechanical engineering. With keynote speaker Nikolas Zimmermann from the Fraunhofer Institute, partners in the software and hardware sector and presentations on CAD, CAM, simulation and ERP, the forum offers space for networking, training and visions.

In the "Engineering 4.0" research field, the Digital Engineering Competence Team is investigating the impact of the "Industry 4.0" and "digitalization" approaches on indirect production areas and development areas upstream of production. To this end, they are trying to identify the potential offered by the specific requirements of the existing process landscape. At the forums, Dipl.-Ing. Nikolas Zimmermann from Fraunhofer IAO will present practical new findings and suggestions for increasing efficiency in product and production development in mechanical engineering.

XReality in engineering - the Virtual Dimension Center

The Virtual Dimension Center (VDC) in Fellbach is one of the largest competence centers for virtual reality in Europe. It focuses on VR applications in the automotive, mechanical engineering and construction industries, which are important for Baden-Württemberg. Prof. Dr. Runde will give visitors to the forums an interesting insight into the state of the art and future possibilities. Visitors can expect virtuality they can touch: Interactive applications such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) can be experienced and tested up close. Using the META 2 AR glasses and the HTC Vive VR glasses, interested visitors can immerse themselves directly in virtual worlds and experience how digitalization facilitates the production process.

Solidworks 2019 - innovations, new partnerships and more

Visitors can look forward to the innovations in Solidworks from Dassault Systèmes. Visitors can get to know the new features of the leading CAD software known as "What's New in Solidworks" before the official launch date and will also receive free training materials. There will be special highlights in the areas of 3D printing, PDM, Composer and, above all, CAD. New partner applications such as Solidsteel parametric, a 3D CAD software for steel construction that is 100% integrated into Solidworks, will showcase innovations for and with Solidworks. The DPS Forums will take place at two locations: the DPS Forum South on October 18, 2018 at the Schwabenlandhalle in Fellbach and the DPS Forum North on November 6, 2018 at the Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland.
