Laser angled light barriers

Mara Hofacker,

Angle sensors detect the smallest parts

According to Di-soric, it offers space-saving and high-resolution laser angled light barriers that detect objects as small as 0.03 mm quickly and reliably.

The new OGLL series fulfills detection and inspection tasks in assembly, handling and packaging technology, especially in feeding, position and quality control. With their high function reserve, the robust laser angled light barriers offer users maximum process reliability for small parts detection, according to the company. The dual operating concept with either IO-Link or potentiometer makes operation and configuration simple and reliable. IO-Link enables extended parameterization solutions and predictive diagnostics concepts.

LED angled light barriers from Di-soric 's OGL series detect small objects from 0.2 mm in size. With the OGLL series, the company provides laser angled light barriers with leg lengths of 50, 80 and 120 mm, which can reliably detect objects or product details as small as 0.03 mm. They are used where fork light barriers cannot be used due to space or handling constraints. With their fine and highly visible light beam of eye-safe laser class 1, the sensors detect even the smallest details through narrow slots and holes without the need for time-consuming adjustment. When feeding parts, laser angle sensors determine the position and orientation of thin wires, drills or cannulas with an accuracy (reproducibility) of 0.01 mm.

The sensors can be configured using IO-Link. Thanks to IO-Link, qualitative and quantitative diagnostic concepts can be implemented for specific applications, making it easy to monitor current process values, process stability and teach-in quality. The laser angled light barriers are equipped with a push-pull output; PNP and NPN functions are located in one device. They are downward compatible, extremely robust with their powder-coated metal housing (IP67) and designed for a temperature range between minus 25 degrees and plus 60 degrees.
