Four eyes see more than two - the new generation of Visionary-B CV from Sick ensures greater safety and a better overview when maneuvering with forklift trucks and other special vehicles.
The assistance system analyzes the vehicle's surroundings, warns the driver in critical situations and proactively supports the braking process. Schöler Fördertechnik is testing the functionality of Visionary-B CV at automotive supplier SMP. For this pilot project, the system was installed in one of the industrial trucks and connected to the vehicle control system. Following the successful completion of the field test, the comprehensive use of Visionary-B CV in suitable production environments at SMP is now planned.
The automotive supplier Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP) places high demands on safety in its production environments. To support drivers of industrial trucks and prevent collisions with people or objects in the production environment, the internationally operating supplier relies on technology from Sick. In a pilot project, the sensor manufacturer is working with Schöler Fördertechnik to test the function and mode of operation of the intelligent 3D driver assistance system Visionary-B CV. To this end, the forklift expert has equipped one of its industrial trucks at SMP with the plug-and-play solution from Sick.
The detection software records objects and people, evaluates the information and warns the driver visually and acoustically in the event of an emergency. The 3D vision sensor also checks areas that are difficult to see. Special algorithms suppress irrelevant information. Thanks to 3D snapshot technology and intelligent image processing, the driver is only warned in critical situations. A monitor supplied with the system displays the vehicle's surroundings; at the same time, the system provides proactive support in reducing the vehicle's speed.
The Visionary-B CV is quick to install, robust and easy to operate. The system is easy to retrofit and is suitable not only for industrial trucks, but also for construction sites.
