Display: Compare and backups faster than ever
Siemens TIA Portal connection in octoplant greatly improved
The answer to complex automation chains and strict compliance obligations: The latest version of AUVESY-MDT's octoplant device management and backup solution significantly improves the performance of TIA Portal backup creation.
The Siemens TIA Portal plays a key role in automated production in various branches of industry. The "Totally Integrated Automation" (TIA for short) software environment is used to program and manage automation systems.
Nevertheless, digitalized and automated processes are presenting companies with growing challenges: Industrial production chains are becoming increasingly complex and compliance obligations, such as NIS2, are becoming stricter.
As a result, the importance of asset management and automated backups is growing.
In order to meet these market requirements, the software provider AUVESY-MDT has now also established full compatibility with the latest version of the Siemens TIA Portal in the current release of its asset management and backup solution octoplant. But the solution goes one important step further: thanks to close cooperation and an active partnership with Siemens, the provider has been able to speed up the performance of TIA Portal backup jobs and version comparison enormously - by a factor of eight on average. An increase in efficiency that not only saves time and nerves in an emergency, but also real money.
More backup jobs in less time and an enormous increase in handling performance
The TIA Portal is regularly named as the most important platform in octoplant customer surveys. However, the creation of backups and the automatic version comparison have sometimes caused loading times. The new octoplant version supports the TIA Portal from V17 up to the latest version V19. But that's not all: the realized performance boost now enables the execution of several TIA Portal backup jobs in a fraction of the previous time - a significant acceleration compared to manual backup processes. The fast and automated backups enable maintenance engineers to meet their statutory backup obligations, even on complex store floors.
In addition to significantly accelerated version creation (incl. Compare), far more automatic backups of a PLC project are now possible within the same time. The time-based backups or rule-based backups - based on consistency checks, for example - automatically generate a complete history of the software versions.
With the new asset management, configured automation devices are also recognized within the TIA Portal (among others) and detailed information (e.g. IP address, type, order number, etc.) is provided.
octoplant saves nerves, time and costs
Thanks to the fast and precise comparison function in octoplant, store floor managers can identify and correct potential errors or inconsistencies in production within a very short time. Detailed documentation of all changes and actual states enables quick and easy traceability in the event of an emergency. This not only increases the overall efficiency of production. What's more, in the event of an emergency, companies can immediately take the necessary measures to recover. In this way, expensive downtimes can be avoided or at least drastically reduced.
AUVESY-MDT offers by far the largest coverage of connected devices and automation systems of all relevant manufacturers. With the new version of octoplant, the software solution provider is demonstrating its leading global position in the field of OT protection. Its asset/device management and backup solution has long been meeting customer needs such as effectiveness and efficiency in the automation world. With the improvement of the TIA Portal connection, octoplant supports the production industry in meeting all requirements and compliance obligations on complex store floors with state-of-the-art backups and versioning. This not only saves production managers nerves but also critical downtime costs for companies.
The octoplant software platform secures software versions and projects of the most important, mostly heterogeneous automation technology. Changes to configurations, project programming and project statuses are thus consistently recorded and monitored.
