Powerful sensors for end-to-end Ethernet communication

Data with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology
from the sensor directly
to the JUMO Cloud

For the first time, JUMO has taken up the possibilities of SPE technology (Single Pair Ethernet) for direct Ethernet integration and implemented them in 3 new sensor products: JUMO hydroTRANS, JUMO flowTRANS MAG H20 and JUMO DELOS S02.

For the first time, JUMO has taken up the possibilities of Ethernet-based SPE technology and integrated it into 3 new sensor products:

  • JUMO hydroTRANS (humidity, CO2 and temperature transmitter)
  • JUMO flowTRANS MAG H20 (flow transmitter)
  • JUMO DELOS S02 (pressure transmitter).

The choice of SPE technology for the new JUMO devices gives users the option of using complete system solutions with continuous Ethernet transmission in their applications. This aspect simplifies commissioning and opens up further exciting advantages:

SPE is only the physical layer on which a variety of Ethernet-based protocols can run, and JUMO has selected the SPE standard 10BASE-T1L for the new sensors, which allows cable lengths of up to 1000 meters for the sensor connection and thus ensures universal use of this SPE technology in a wide range of application fields. Each of the 3 sensors is supplied via Power over Data Lines (PoDL). The connection is made using an SPE connector in the high protection class M12 version.

Data transmission is based on Ethernet throughout, which is why the sensor can communicate directly with the controller and simultaneously with the JUMO Cloud.

For communication with the controller, the user can fall back on the established Ethernet-based Modbus TCP communication standard. Cloud communication is set up with just a few clicks in the JUMO Cloud directly or conveniently on the sensor using the JUMO smartCONNECT app or the JUMO setup program. In this way, lean system solutions consisting of sensors and automation and/or control technology can be designed quickly and easily.

For example, the JUMO hydroTRANS sensor can measure the room temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration and also send its status values (metadata) directly to the JUMO Cloud via the SPE interface.
