Optimization of the 3-component cup: seed label
In order for packaging to be easily recycled, it is important that the individual packaging components and materials are disposed of separately. The existing 3-component cup has a cardboard sleeve/label, which has made it possible to reduce the original plastic content of the cup. The problem, however, is that in most cases the consumer disposes of the plastic cup including the cardboard label. The submitted proposal attempts to create an incentive for material separation by adding an additional benefit to the cardboard label. Flower seeds are incorporated into the cardboard, encouraging the consumer to remove the band in order to plant flowers, herbs or crops. The plastic cup could then be sorted for recycling.
