... is how the production of prototypes now works. The prototype is a decisive step in the production process.

It is the transition from design to implementation, regardless of whether it is an end customer product or a special tool for a specific task. Two trends have significantly accelerated prototyping in recent years: simulation and additive manufacturing. Simulation now makes it possible to predict the properties of the designed product much more accurately at the end of the design process without having to physically manufacture it. Additive manufacturing, in turn, offers an enormous range of substrate variants combined with significant advances in processing speed and quality. Reason enough to make this topic the focus of the current issue.

I would also like to draw your attention to our digital event INDUSTRIAL Production + handling from March 22 to 26. Five themed days will focus on current issues in industrial production.

And a final note on our own behalf: The handling award will start again on March 16. This time under the INDUSTRIAL Production banner, but with the same high quality standards.
