Linear transfer system
Produce tactfully
Weiss presents LS Link, the newest member of the linear transfer systems. It is based on indexing chain technology and is designed for workpiece transport in automated assembly and packaging technology.
With around 60 cycles per minute and a movement time of less than 0.2 seconds at feed rates of up to 200 mm, LS Link is fast and efficient. At the same time, the positioning accuracy is +/- 50 μm. This is ensured by the planetary gearbox used. In combination with the servo motor, the fast transfer system proves to be flexible, as any position and any feed rate can be approached. This increases adaptability to the higher-level assembly line and to the customer application. The reduced system complexity and high reliability guarantee high productivity and cost-effectiveness.
The precision drive concept consists of a servo motor, backlash-free precision planetary gears and a sophisticated guide concept. The combination of drive system and conveyor chain results in a precise overall system. The vibration-damping design ensures stability. It absorbs high forces and guarantees homogeneous running behavior. The solidity of the chain links and connecting pins enables the workpiece carriers to be positioned precisely in relation to each other and also in relation to process or machining stations. The guide concept allows the workpiece carriers to be loaded with up to 50 kg. The manufacturer Weiss guarantees the absorption of high process forces of up to 1,000.
Suitable for screwing tasks
This makes the system well suited for press-fit operations or screwdriving tasks. The guide concept is pretensioned in all directions and free of play. The conveyor chain can be easily split on request - which makes assembly easier. The chain can also be easily extended if required. In addition to an arrangement of the processing stations in the straight areas of LS Link, these are also possible in the deflections thanks to the guide concept. As users can choose between four chain link lengths with a width of 70 mm, they are virtually free to design their assembly or transport processes as they wish. This is supported by the variable installation positions. Users can install the linear transfer system both vertically and horizontally. This means that the workpiece transport adapts to the production process and the spatial possibilities of the installation area. LS Link can be easily integrated into assembly systems precisely because its different chain link lengths make it so versatile. This is supported by an appropriately prepared PLC communication module that can be integrated into the higher-level machine control system. At the same time, the preconfigured software makes commissioning easier. In the future, assets will be available for digital engineering. LS Link is available as a pure cycle chain with or without a drive system and, on request, with an individual base frame. The linear transfer solution is designed for 24/7 continuous operation and is maintenance-free, depending on the application. LS Link will be available from fall 2023.
