Ball bearing units from SKF

Japanese standards for European applications

SKF has launched a new range of ball bearing units that meet Japanese industry standards. The units offer improved performance in applications in the material handling, agricultural and food and beverage industries.

SKF is currently introducing a new range of JIS-compliant ball bearing units to the European market. The range is based on the corresponding UC units that the company recently launched with great success in Asia. As standard, the European UC range is available in two mounting versions and has a highly effective seal design.

Compared to "conventional" solutions, the UC bearings offer better protection against contamination or washout, for example. Thanks to their robust fastening mechanisms, the new UC series is also suitable for conveyor belts, where their closing force and tightness ensure a longer service life with less maintenance. Further applications for these bearings can be found in ventilation systems, packaging machines and fitness equipment.

The proven sealing concept of the UC ball bearing units is based on an integrated single-lip inner seal, which is supplemented by a flinger washer fixed to the inner ring. Both together maximize the sealing effect of the bearing. In addition, the units are equipped with a grub screw fastening angled at 120 degrees (for bore diameters up to 65 millimetres; for sizes above this, the angle is 62 degrees). This makes them suitable for applications that require precise running behavior at high speeds - or where vibrations could cause problems.

Apart from this, the feet of the UC bearing housings are designed to minimize the accumulation of dirt. This is particularly beneficial in applications where cleanliness is paramount. In addition, polypropylene end caps are also available for the UC flange and head units in order to comply with health and safety regulations, for example, or to counteract the ingress of contaminants in particularly dirty working environments even more effectively.

SKF offers UC units in numerous variants. These include plummer block units (also with a short base), flange bearing units (as square, oval or round flanges) with two, three or four screw holes as well as head units. In addition to the UC cylinder bore with a grub screw arrangement angled at 120 degrees, a tapered bore on an adapter sleeve is also available in this new series. as
