Kuka presents new KR Fortec
Dynamic, cost-efficient and reliable
With the new KR Fortec, Kuka is launching an all-rounder onto the market. The heavy-duty robot is energy-efficient and dynamic in handling applications.
The KR Fortec industrial robot delivers high performance in a small space. Its high dynamics ensure short cycle times. Thanks to its compact shape, it can be used for tasks such as handling and spot welding. The KR Fortec achieves all this with fast performance and low energy consumption.
In technical terms, the heavy-duty robot is positioned between the KR Quantec and KR Fortec ultra. This makes it part of a cross-model modularization that ensures a high degree of permeability between the components of the robot series. "When developing the KR Fortec, it was important to us to achieve a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and to bring a resource-saving product onto the market. The KR Fortec is up to 700 kilograms lighter than its predecessor," explains Maximilian Pettkuhn, Portfolio Manager at Kuka. For customers, modularization means lower costs for the storage of spare parts. The new robot is available immediately and is also available with an extended arm, which allows loads of 240 kilograms to be handled over a reach of 3,700 millimetres.
Long operating time, little maintenance
The KR Fortec aims to stand for reliability - this includes a long, trouble-free operating time and low maintenance requirements. Maintenance work can be carried out quickly and easily thanks to optimized accessibility, which significantly reduces maintenance work. The two central hands have been adopted from the KR Quantec and KR Fortec ultra models and are waterproof and dustproof as standard. The KR Fortec can also be operated at zero to 55 degrees Celsius. Several foundry versions are available for harsh and dirty environments.
More reach thanks to linear axis
The working range of the KR Fortec can be extended with the KL 4000 linear unit - modularly adaptable between 1.5 and 30 meters. The KR Quantec also fits on the KL 4000; the KL 5000 is chosen to work together with the KR Fortec ultra on the same linear unit, allowing customers to continue to easily adapt and combine the products to their individual requirements.
