Operation with the KR Quantec
Kuka robots support minimally invasive surgery
Innovative technologies for minimally invasive surgery and more: Kuka and Siemens Healthineers are expanding their long-standing partnership. Kuka will supply 300 robots for the medical technology manufacturer's Artis phenography system this year and next.
The Kuka KR Quantec robot is the robotic centerpiece of ARTIS pheno, a state-of-the-art X-ray-based imaging system for interventional, cardiological and, above all, surgical disciplines. The system is used for various medical treatments, for example examinations of vascular diseases, repairs to heart valves or complex orthopaedic operations on the spine or pelvis.
KR Quantec moves the C-arm
The robot moves the C-arm with X-ray source and image converter around the patient. The surgeon has optimum access to the operating field during a medical procedure and is supported by the imaging. Using a joystick, the robot system can navigate precisely to the individual positions required by the attending physicians. This enables broad and versatile use in the hybrid OR.

Patients can be positioned differently on the operating table during surgical procedures, and quick adjustments to positioning are also possible, resulting in easier breathing or stabilization of blood pressure in certain situations.
Since 2016, this system has been in use in more than 550 hospitals around the world; including the previous versions, well over 1,200 of the innovative systems are in use.
