Modular Power Connector
Strain relief for rail connectors
The Modular Power Connector (MPC) from Stäubli Electrical Connectors is a power connector for railroad technology. In moving applications in rail vehicles, the cables must be fixed so that the frequent bending does not damage the connection in the connector.
Stäubli has launched the Dynamic Cable Option, or DCO for short, which is attached directly to the MPC connector as a strain relief. The DCO eliminates the need to build your own strain relief brackets with clamps and terminals, which are usually complex to install, take up a lot of space and cause additional costs. Such strain reliefs are used in locomotives, railcars and streetcars for the power connection between the carriages and the contacting of the traction motor or bogie.
The time saved when plugging and unplugging electrical connections is enormous. It also eliminates any mechanical stress on the cable glands and contributes significantly to the durability of the connectors.
"The fast and reliable connector solution from Stäubli supports both our production during assembly and our customers' productivity during maintenance," says Pascal Duvoisin, team leader for installation planning at Stadler Rail in Switzerland, which has opted to use the MPC in its narrow-gauge rail vehicles. as
