Frank Moritz newly elected to the Profibus Board of Directors

On 14 September 2020, the general meeting of the Profibus user organization took place virtually for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic. The agenda included the regular elections of the Advisory Board and Board of Directors, which take place every three years.

At the meeting, the Executive Board of the PNO reported on technology development, marketing activities and the budget for 2019, as well as the results achieved in 2020, and presented corresponding plans for the remainder of the current year.

The main topics were information on activities relating to information models, security and Ethernet APL. Technology development is increasingly taking place in cooperation with other organizations. The members therefore agreed to add this aspect to the rules of procedure. The Executive Board's report was supplemented by a presentation of the new omlox technology by the head of the newly established committee responsible for this, Dr. Matthias Jöst.

Karsten Schneider (Siemens) was re-elected as Chairman of the Executive Board and Prof. Dr. Frithjof Klasen (TH Köln/Gummersbach) and Dr. Jörg Hähniche (Endress + Hause) were re-elected as Deputy Chairmen. Frank Moritz (Sick) was newly elected to the Executive Board.

The General Meeting also confirmed the Advisory Board members Klaus Erni (Emerson), Marco Henkel (Wago), Andreas Hennecke (Pepperl+Fuchs), Dr. Hans Krattenmacher (SEW-Eurodrive), Martin Müller (Phoenix Contact), Matthias Prinzen (Festo) and Frank Welzel (Harting). Manfred Haberer (Sick), Andreas Pfaff (Mitsubishi Electric), Edwin van Hoeven (Yokogawa) and Dr. Ulrich Viethen (Murrelekronik) are new members of the Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board of the Profibus User Organization controls the technical orientation and further development of the PI technologies Profibus, Profinet, IO-Link and omlox and supports the Executive Board in the business tasks of the PNO. The Executive Board and the elected Advisory Board members are supported in their work by the heads of the PNO's eight committees, who are responsible for the respective technology, quality assurance and marketing topics and are members of the Advisory Board. According to the organization, this team will drive the further development of the PNO's technologies in the direction of Industry 4.0 over the next three years.
