Access control in production with RFID
In production, process steps are monitored by different employees. The RFID OEM HF Stick Reader R831 series from Idtronic can read data using a unique UID and assign it to the employee.
The RFID OEM HF Stick Reader R831 series from Idtronic is available in different versions that support a different range of RFID transponders. The different versions include a high-end and a multi-ISO version. The high-end version supports almost all common transponders in the RFID HF range, including DESFire, NFC and microprocessor solutions. According to the manufacturer, the multi-ISO variant is characterized by its price-optimized performance.
All variants are available both as USB Virtual ComPort Read/Write and in a USB HID keyboard emulation version. The HID output of the reader can be customized in advance and adapted to the requirements of the application.
Thanks to its slim design with dimensions of 71 x 17.2 x 9.4 millimetres, the RFID reader can also be integrated into applications with limited installation space. An integrated LED and buzzer facilitate status display during use. The RFID stick reader can be used for access control during production in companies or as an authentication aid in the healthcare sector.
The different variants are operated via the USB 5 Vdc power supply. The existing USB 2.0 interface allows operation on all computers, terminals, notebooks, printers or other devices with a USB connection. USB drivers are supplied for Microsoft Windows, Linux, MAC OS and Android systems. This means that not only the USB HID keyboard variant can be used with almost any operating system, but also the USB Virtual ComPort Read/Write variant.
A software development kit (SDK) and configuration tool for Windows operating systems are also provided, as is an operating system-independent command protocol. Further firmware and hardware adaptations are possible on request and on a project basis.
Access control in production
Different employees are assigned to different process steps in production. Each process step must be monitored and controlled by an assigned employee. The Embedded HF Stick Reader R831 is ideally suited for this area of application. The RFID OEM module can be easily embedded in existing devices and easily connected via USB 2.0 interface.
The use of MIFARE DESFire cards facilitates identification and tracking. The card can be written with data and information about the person. The Embedded HF Stick Reader R831 can read this data using a unique UID and successfully assign it to the member or employee.
The data can be transferred in two different ways. All access data can be transferred using the Virtual COM Port mode via USB cable and special commands. The VCP mode provides full read and write access for all supported transponders. In HID mode, user data can be retrieved from the supported transponders as keyboard emulation.
Access rights can be clearly assigned using the Embedded HF Stick Reader R831. Misuse of the devices and systems is impossible. as
