Schaeffler and Neura Robotics have entered into a technology partnership for the development and production of humanoid robots. The aim is to jointly manufacture key components such as compact, lightweight actuators that are designed for long-term use.

Schaeffler plans to integrate robots from Neura Robotics into its global production network. By 2035, a mid-four-digit number of humanoid systems are to be used in the company's production. In addition to the supply of actuators, the cooperation also includes the joint use of real production data in order to train and further develop humanoid robotics capabilities.

An essential part of the collaboration is the connection of this data to the 'Neuraverse' developed by Neura Robotics. This global ecosystem is intended to accelerate the further development of so-called 'physical AI', i.e. adaptive, cognitive robots that can perform physical tasks in industrial environments.

Schaeffler is contributing its experience in the development of high-precision planetary actuators, which are used in joints such as shoulders or knees, to the cooperation. The company offers actuators with torques of up to 250 Nm, enabling humanoid robots such as the '4NE1' to move even heavy loads.

"Humanoid robotics is an important growth area for Schaeffler and Neura is one of the most innovative companies in Europe," says Andreas Schick, Chief Production, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing Officer at Schaeffler. "By strategically combining our expertise, we are not only strengthening our own competitiveness, but also setting standards as technology pioneers for Germany as a business location."
