Application software
Sense of touch in orange
Optoforce, the hardware and software specialist for tactile sensing in industrial automation, has launched new application software for Kuka lightweight robots.
With three pre-programmed applications - "hand guidance", "position detection" and "centring" - the touch sensors from the Hungarian company open up new automation options for both integrators and end users of Kuka robots, while also reducing integration times. "Our HEX-E and HEX-H six-axis touch sensors are combined with a comprehensive software package," explains Optoforce CEO Ákos Dömötör. "Basically, the hardware of our sensors gives industrial robots sensitivity, while the software converts this extended sense into concrete industrial applications. In this way, we give Kuka robots the capabilities of a human hand and open up numerous new possibilities in industrial automation."
After the robots from Universal Robots, the Kuka models are the second group to benefit from the enhanced sense of touch. The hardware is also already compatible with robot arms from ABB. as
