Online shopping at the EMO

Mapal will be exhibiting at this year's EMO in Hanover on around 480 square meters in Hall 4, Stand A18. In addition to the focus sectors of automotive, aviation, fluid technology and tool and mold making, the focus will be on Innovations 2024, the recently launched online store and the topic of sustainability.

"In addition to our innovations, we have numerous other new features for our customers at the EMO in Hanover," says Jacek Kruszynski, Chief Technology Officer of the Mapal Group. By this he means, among other things, the new online store, which will be presented to visitors at the trade fair stand and is currently available to customers in Germany and Austria. The store contains more than 6,600 stocked products from the drilling, milling, countersinking and clamping sectors. "Our customers benefit from short delivery times, free delivery and state-of-the-art store functions," explains Kruszynski. "We have worked intensively on the topics of availability, delivery reliability and delivery speed and are pleased to be able to demonstrate the success of our measures with the online store, among other things," says Kruszynski.

Machining solutions for many industries

Numerous machining solutions for various industries and applications will be on display at the Mapal stand. The focus will be on the automotive sector, including solutions for electrically powered vehicles, aviation, fluid technology and tool and mold making. The company will also be showcasing tools and chucks that take energy efficiency, resource conservation and safety into account. "We don't just act as sustainably as possible ourselves - we manage, produce and take responsibility in the interests of our customers and employees. We also want to provide our customers with the best possible support on the path to sustainable production," emphasizes Jacek Kruszynski.

Focus on drilling - deep drilling and reaming

One highlight is the Mega-Deep-Drill-Steel deep drills up to 40xD, which are specially designed for machining steel and cast iron. The solid carbide drills are optimally protected in the cutting edge area by a coating with Hipims technology, thus guaranteeing smooth chip removal. The remaining length of the drill is polished and remains uncoated. Thanks to their special geometry, the new deep drills stand for long tool life and productivity. Compared to their predecessors, feed speeds can be increased by up to 50 percent.

Longer service life thanks to expansion system

Mapal is also presenting a series of new straight shank reamers with brazed cutting edges. The special feature of the Fix-Ream-700 reamers is their frequent reusability thanks to an expansion system. A tool can be reground up to twice before new cutting edges have to be brazed in. After that, two regrinds, another change of cutting edge and a further two regrinds are possible. One reamer therefore has a service life of nine times. Compared to a tool without an expansion function, tool costs can be reduced by up to 15 percent. Thanks to new, patented geometries, users achieve up to 30 percent better roundness and cylindrical shape as well as improved chip removal compared to other straight shank reamers.

Milling cutter for high-volume aluminum machining

"With our two new milling cutters for high-volume machining of aluminum, we are presenting a real highlight - also for the aviation industry," promises Jacek Kruszynski. The two milling cutter series in solid carbide and with indexable inserts are particularly interesting for use on high-performance machines. With the new Optimill-Alu-Wave solid carbide roughing cutter for aluminum materials, Mapal makes full use of the performance of the fastest machines available on the market and achieves a metal removal rate of up to 21 liters per minute. At the same time, the high-volume milling cutter can also be used on weaker machines. The tool manufacturer is thus taking account of the fact that aircraft parts are often manufactured on machines with spindle outputs of between 40 and 80 kilowatts, for which no suitable milling cutter was previously available in the portfolio.

Indexable insert milling cutter for larger diameters

The new Neomill-Alu-QBig indexable insert milling cutters are a highly economical solution for larger diameters. In order to achieve the largest possible metal removal rate of up to 18 liters per minute, the aluminum volume milling cutter is designed for use at speeds of up to 35,000 revolutions per minute with a diameter of 50 millimetres. The tool can achieve surface qualities of Ra 0.8 micrometers and Rz 4.0 micrometers for rough and finish machining, even with high chip volumes.
