Presses for vehicle parts
The manufacturer San Grato received its eighth press from Farina. Thanks to the KERS kinetic energy recovery system, the GLK 2500 increases energy efficiency at the site in Malonno, Brescia, more
The Italian company San Grato produces around ten million forged parts for cars, motorcycles, industrial and commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery every year. Many of these are produced on seven Farina presses with press forces of between 1000 and 5000 tons at the sites in San Carlo Canavese near Turin and Malonno in the province of Brescia (north-west Italy). San Grato has now ordered machine number eight from Schuler subsidiary Farina.
Energy recovery
The 2500-ton press is equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), which reduces energy requirements by 40 percent. To keep up with foreign competitors, San Grato already covers two thirds of its energy costs with a hydroelectric power plant near Turin and a photovoltaic system on the roofs of the two plants. The high energy efficiency of the new Farina GLK 2500 will further increase this proportion within the Group. At the same time, it offers higher performance and lower maintenance costs.
