Tata Steel: Karl Haider appointed Chief Commercial Officer
Karl Haider takes over the role of Chief Commercial Officer for the European business units of Tata Steel. He succeeds Henrik Adam, who was appointed CEO of Tata Steel in Europe in June.
In 2011, Haider joined the company's European business units as Director Downstream Operations. He began his career in the steel industry in 1981 as an apprentice at Voestalpine. He then studied technical chemistry and business administration at the Johannes Kepler University in Austria. Haider holds a Ph.D. in natural sciences.
From 1997, he held various commercial roles. Among other things, he was product manager and sales director at the Dutch chemical company DSM from 2001 to 2006. He then returned to Voestalpine, where he was first a project manager and later a member of the Management Board of the High Performance Metals division of Voestalpine AG.
"My goals are simple: to listen to our valued customers, understand their needs and provide them with an excellent experience," says Haider. "These are challenging times for the entire European steel industry. Nevertheless, we have the potential and determination not only to succeed, but also to deliver on our promises and position ourselves even stronger for the future."
