Supplier industry
FMB South with extended lecture program
Among the innovations at FMB Süd next year will be a program of lectures accompanying the trade fair on three topics that are currently the subject of much discussion in the industry.
The third FMB-Süd, which starts on February 20, 2019 in Augsburg, will provide a compact and intensive overview of the supplier industry for mechanical and plant engineering. The organizer is expecting around 200 exhibitors to present their products and services for mechanical engineering and industry to visitors. Christian Enßle, Portfolio Manager of trade fair organizer Clarion: "Many exhibitors come from the region. However, a roughly equal proportion are based in North Rhine-Westphalia, have been exhibiting at the FMB in Bad Salzuflen for years and would like to intensify their sales activities and contacts in the southern half of Germany in Augsburg."
More lectures, more space
In 2019, the content of the lecture program will be expanded and presented on a larger area. In consultation with cooperation partners and exhibitors, the organizers have defined three main topics, each of which will be covered by a block of several presentations.
The first topic - predictive maintenance - is interesting for the entire industrial production sector and not just for mechanical engineering, because predictive maintenance reduces downtimes and increases productivity. Predictive maintenance is also considered a pioneering application for Industry 4.0 concepts.
The networking of the factory as the second focus of the lecture programme is nothing other than digitalization at store floor level: a topic that almost every industrial company is currently dealing with. Concrete, practice-oriented examples of such networking will be presented at FMB-Süd.
Thirdly, there will also be a practical lecture block on additive manufacturing. Many companies also use these manufacturing processes for (small) series products made of plastic and metal. And Augsburg is the right place to discuss this because the region has a high level of research and production expertise in materials technology and innovative processing technologies. In addition, the key industries for the application of additive manufacturing processes, in particular the aviation and automotive industries, are concentrated in the southern technology axis.
The planning of the content for the three main topics is currently in full swing. Christian Enßle: "The central criterion is practical orientation: visitors to the trade fair should take away concrete ideas and suggestions that they can implement in their own production or use in machine design." as
