New roller drives in 16 weeks
Menzel Elektromotoren has manufactured eight size 500 low-voltage motors for a rolling mill.
The medium-sized company, which implements all kinds of special solutions, was able to make full use of its strengths in this project: It manufactured the roller drives from scratch on behalf of the plant manufacturer and met the tight schedule of 16 weeks. The technically sophisticated and high-quality solution guarantees reliable operation under high mechanical loads. Robust welded steel housings ensure maximum torsional rigidity.
Water cooling was implemented at the customer's request (cooling type IC 86W). The motors with a rated voltage of 690 volts have a rated output of 1,000 kilowatts. Menzel designed them for the application-specific load points at a nominal frequency of 25 Hertz and installed a special encoder for operation on the frequency inverter. The customer has already placed a follow-up order for a further four motors of this type. as
