Optimize existing production processes to conserve resources
On September 28, Hermann Diebold will explain practical approaches to climate-neutral investment at the online conference.
From September 27 to 29, 2022, the digital networking days Sustainability 2022 will be dedicated to the question of how the industry can implement sustainability in practice. In session 3 on September 28 at 14:00, Helmut Diebold will share his practical experience.
The company Diebold Goldring-Werkzeugfabrik in Jungingen operates a climate-neutral factory with a Co2-neutral energy concept. "A sophisticated energy concept reduces energy consumption to a minimum, resulting in a climate-neutral factory with sustainable production and in order to protect natural resources and the health of employees," says owner Hermann Diebold.
Fully air-conditioned production rooms
Diebold operates fully air-conditioned production areas in order to meet the high precision requirements for its products and to manufacture products with accuracy in the thousandths of a millimeter range. These production areas are highly efficiently temperature-controlled to a constant 21°C. In addition, the cooling water for the machines is also temperature-controlled to 21°C. Despite this, only a small amount of external energy is required. 80% of the cooling capacity is provided by free cooling using air or river water. Only 20% is generated by the chiller.
Since 2012, there have been no more oil, gas or other solid fuel burners in the entire Diebold plant. Heating energy is sourced from the neighboring Bioenergie Killertal, where heat is generated using renewable raw materials. And since 2006, the photovoltaic system has permanently fed 30 kW of green electricity into the grid. The existing building has also been optimized: The newly upgraded Hall 1 and the newly built automated raw materials warehouse have been fitted with a heat recovery system that achieves a very high level of efficiency and generates 96% less CO2 overall. This investment also reduces the Co2 emissions of the entire factory by 30%.
