Special procurement at Conrad on a new level
Electronic Direct becomes part of the Conrad Group
More than just selling products, but providing all parts of success for the daily procurement of technical requirements: This is exactly why the Conrad Sourcing Platform was launched in 2020 and has been dynamically expanded ever since. More than 10 million product offers and numerous services and solutions are now available on the platform for business customers. With the acquisition of the Electronic Direct Group, special procurement is now being taken to a new level.
Since the beginning of February, the distributor Electronic Direct, which focuses on the special procurement of electronic components, has been part of the Conrad Group. The technology-oriented full-service provider's main customers include companies in the industrial, automotive, medical technology, aerospace and telecommunications sectors. "With 25 years of experience in the market, a global supplier network and subsidiaries in Canada, Hong Kong and China, Electronic Direct, like us, relies on long-standing and trusting partnerships as well as global networking with customers and suppliers," says Ralf Bühler, CEO of Conrad Electronic.
Independence remains
Electronic Direct (ED) will continue to operate as an independent company from its location in Putzbrunn near Munich: The more than 50 experts will continue to work to raise the distribution of electronic components for Industry 4.0 to a new level. "Becoming part of the Conrad Group gives us a succession plan that allows us to continue to build on our strengths and even expand them. We are very much looking forward to playing our part in making Conrad the leading European procurement platform for technical requirements," says Kornelius Schmitz, one of the two Managing Directors at Electronic Direct.
Proven system with all-round service
With sophisticated quality management and a tried-and-tested system for the special procurement of active, passive and electronic components as well as system components, the Electronic Direct team ideally complements the Conrad portfolio with its expertise: "Even though we provide an enormously broad and deep range on the Conrad Sourcing Platform, this is not always enough. Customer requirements are becoming increasingly specialized, especially in the B2B sector. In addition, many companies have securing their supply chains at the top of their agenda. Special procurement can offer enormous added value in these two areas in particular," Ralf Bühler is convinced.
Added value special procurement
With its procurement service team, Conrad is already searching for special products for its customers. Thanks to ED's expertise, this service will go even further in the future, especially with regard to electronic components: The system used by ED already provides customers with an insight into the component stocks available worldwide. ED offers special assistance with the procurement of hard-to-find electronic components and supports obsolescence management. The company takes over the entire order processing in order to give customers maximum freedom to concentrate on their business.
Solutions for customized product procurement
Conrad's aim is to act as a solution provider and provide customers with exactly what they need to successfully implement their projects. This includes, above all, products that are specifically tailored to the customer's requirements. With a huge product portfolio, individual project services in the area of product development by Conrad's Product Sourcing & Development team and a special procurement process that will soon be further optimized, Conrad offers optimal conditions for smooth and tailor-made procurement of technical requirements.
