Laboratory knives and scalpels are available in various designs - made of metal or stainless steel or with a plastic handle and metal blade. The blades of almost all knife designs are available in different shapes and sizes to meet different cutting requirements. Until disposal, regular cleaning and sterilization are essential to prevent contamination and keep the blades in optimum condition. This can be done by autoclaving or using suitable chemical disinfectants. Special cutting and cross tweezers are often used in electronics laboratories.
